The Costume We Wear for Others

A short comic I made for Nen's Words & Pictures (2023) jam.

The story is about a man who wants to make a halloween costume that gives him the chance to experiment with his self-expression, and see how he feels. In the end, he makes a new friend.

I wanted to practice drawing and storytelling. I took an inspiration I had on hand and just went for it. I still was surprised at the amount of work I had to do, but also, really, the amount of time I needed to spend.

I appreciate jams for letting me cut out the fat and get to what matters.

I thank Nen for giving me the opportunity to stretch creative muscles that don't seem to get much use.

The reason I handwrote the dialogue is because I checked out a Silver Surfer comic book from the library, like, a decade ago, and the author's message said that more comics people should try handwriting their own stuff. Why not?
